Your eyes in our hands (Who will do your operation?)

The surgeons who operate for the Consultant Eye Surgeons Partnership (CESP) are all experienced surgeons who are based in the local area.

We are all members of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

We are subject to annual appraisal and will soon be liable to regular revalidation under the auspices of the General Medical Council (GMC).

Our surgical results are audited continuously.

We provide full 24 hour-a-day, 365-day-per-year emergency cover for patients in our care.

New initiatives designed to increase the number of cataract operations undertaken in the UK have employed travelling surgeons who may arrive in the country to perform surgery before returning to their home overseas. It is not clear whether the travelling surgeons will be experienced in all branches of eye surgery and they may not be available on call if complications occur.
