Increases in NHS Waiting Lists
Recent research has revealed that the number of hospital patients in England waiting over 18 weeks to be seen has jumped by 34%.
Over 28,000 patients in July 2011 had to wait beyond the 18 week target, and those who waited over six months rose by 55%, which equates to more than 9,000 individuals.
However, even when taking these figures into consideration, the NHS is still hitting its target to see 90% of patients in 18 weeks.
Even so, the rise in the numbers waiting beyond 18 weeks is further proof of the growing pressure on waiting times in the health service.
