Eric Barnes MRCP, FRCOphth
Eric trained chiefly at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, where he completed
an extended oculoplastic fellowship prior to becoming a Consultant
Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. His specialist interests
include watery eyes, all forms of eyelid problems including tumours (lumps),
droopy lids (ptosis), anti wrinkle therapy (including blepharoplasty and
cosmetic botulinum toxin therapy (Botox)), He is also experienced in
cataract surgery. |

Mike Birch FRCS, FRCOphth
Mike trained at St Paul’s Eye Hospital in Liverpool, where he also
undertook a fellowship in glaucoma. Since appointment as a consultant
ophthalmologist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary he continues his interest in
glaucoma, subspecialising in all aspects medical, laser and surgical
glaucoma treatment. He is also experienced in general ophthalmology &
cataract surgery. |

Mike Clarke FRCS, FRCOphth
Qualified in medicine at cambridge. Trained in general ophthalmology in
london, leeds and nottingham before training in paediatric ophthalmology at
sick children's hospital in toronto. Appointed consultant in newcastle in
1991. Practice includes all aspects of children's eye disease, adult
strabismus and cataract surgery. |

Margaret Dayan FRCOphth
Margaret Dayan trained in Newcastle and Oxford. She undertakes general
ophthalmology and specialises in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus
(squint). |

Jane Dickinson FRCOphth
I qualified from Aberdeen University in 1981 and trained in general
medicine initially. I commenced my ophthalmology training in 1987, with
fellowships in oculoplastics and orbits in both Dublin and Nottingham before
becoming consultant in Newcastle in 1995. My main interest is in
oculoplastics, particularly periocular tumours and thyroid eye disease. |

Francisco C Figueiredo, MD, PhD, FRCOphth
Mr Francisco Figueiredo undertook his training in Bristol, Leeds, East
Grinstead and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He was awarded a PhD in
immunology of corneal transplantation. He practices general ophthalmology
and specializes in cataract surgery, and corneal and ocular surface eye
diseases, including corneal transplantation. |

Neeta Ray-Chaudhuri FRCS Ophth RCS(Ed) FRCS Ophth RCPS(Glasgow)
Mrs. Ray-Chaudhuri trained in Ophthalmology in Leicester and the North
East. She has a special interest in Glaucoma and cataract surgery |

Ayad E Shafiq, BM & Bch, MRCP (Paeds), DCH, FRCOphth
Ayad Shafiq trained in Paediatrics prior to Ophthalmology. His
Ophthalmology Fellowship was at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. He
specialises in Paediatric and Adult strabismus, as well as Paediatric eye
problems and inherited eye disease. |

Nick Strong FRCOphth
I trained at Leicester and Moorfields. I am a consultant at the Royal
Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. I sub-specialise in cataract and
squint surgery. |

James Talks FRCOphth
James Talks is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer
at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle upon Tyne. He started in 2000
after a medical retina fellowship at Moorfields and training in Birmingham
and Oxford. His main surgical interest is cataracts. He also has a special
interest in medical retina, in particular macular degeneration and retinal
vascular conditions. He is one of the founder members of the photodynamic
therapy users group and is involved in clinical trails of potential new
treatments for macular degeneration
